Captivating, a review.

I was excited when this book was offered up for review on Booksneeze(Thomas Nelson Bloggers), I've heard so many people talk about this book, or recommend it! Heck I'd even bought a copy of the original book a couple years back but never did get around to reading it, despite all the rave reviews!

I'll start by saying when i received my book i was in awe..this is a BEAUTIFUL book! It's a simple yet gorgeous embossed white vellum cover over a hardcover book that has a womans shadow walking up a hill in a flow-y outfit...it's LOVELY.

The edition that i received was a newly revised and expanded edition of Captivating, by John & Stasi Eldredge, a runaway bestseller that originally came out in 2005. What 'Wild at Heart' does for men, 'Captivating' now does for women'. This book 'unveils the mystery to a woman's soul', and reveals our inner desires and what 'captivates' us. John and Stasi use their own personal stories to express a message of hope and grace, and using biblical examples, express why we're here, why we're made and why we do the things we do.

In the epilogue, i LOVE how Stasi writes "Ask some friends to join you in a small group and go through Captivating together. So the guided journal the second time around. It's like getting two years of counselling for about thirteen dollars. What a deal!". I've been thinking a lot about this and think that this is something that i need to take up with my dear friend, who also happens to be the pastor's wife!..i think that this might just be the thing needed to bring the eclectic mix of women from my church together.

SQUINKIES review!

"A Soft and Squishy Surprize Inside! Rings And Things Big And Small! Friends And Pets... Collect Them All!"

My girls and I recently had the awesome opportunity to review SQUINKIES from Blip Toys! You may have heard the extremely catchy commercial if your kids have been watching cartoons lately(commercial is at bottom of this post). So what are they? They are VERY COOL(!) tiny, soft and squishy characters that come in little bubbles...they remind me of a similar product from my own childhood! So i love that i can share in the excitement with my own children!(please note squinkies are a choking hazard for the 3 and under crowd!)

For our first time experiencing Squinkie fun i decided that I'd take them out for breakfast with us. I'm always looking for fun little things to do while waiting in restaurants...so my daughters ripped apart the package and then came up with this clever little idea..they drew houses on the kraft paper tablecloth for their little squinkies to enjoy! I think that they seriously could have sat there for HOURS playing with our 16 characters and a large piece of paper!!! AWESOME!!


They've also done the same thing outside with sidewalk chalk on a nice sunny day! I am VERY impressed with Squinkies!!! I definitely see a couple more suprise packs joining our family at Christmas(don't tell the girls!). It's so rare to find a toy that they'll consistently play with TOGETHER that doesn't cause some form of bickering, they each had their favourites and they weren't the same!!

BlueWater Seafoods Review & Giveaway

Recently i was invited to do a review and giveaway for BlueWater Seafoods, a Canadian company that's been around for over 50 years!, and i tell you that it couldn't have come at a better time for me. It has been chaotic in our house with me starting a new job, the girls starting school, throw a birthday in there, and a man who works 12 hr shifts that can come unannounced..EEK!
So on a day that we both needed to work and where dinner basically had to make itself and QUICK(!) we decided on our box of BlueWater Garlic & Herb fish fillets. Less than half an hour in the oven and dinner is served! The seasoning was just right! They were nice and flaky! The whole family ENJOYED!
When i was talking to my friend today she said that she uses breaded fish fillets in her Fish Taco recipe, so i think that i will be pulling out the bag of BlueWater Cod Fillets from my freezer and giving that a try for a nice quick and easy dinner! Thanks R!
