My Very UN Fairy Tale Life - by Anna Staniszewski
Book summary:
Is your magical kingdom falling apart? Twelve-year-old Jenny is on the case, whether she likes it or not. Saving the world might sound exciting, but for Jenny it’s starting to get old — even staying in the real world long enough to take a math test would be a dream come true! And when you throw in bloodthirsty unicorns, psychotic clowns, and the most useless gnome sidekick ever, Jenny decides that enough is enough. She’s leaving the adventuring business and not looking back. Or…is she?
Thoughts I got from 'Hero'(11 yr dd):
Hero is an avid reader. She tends to stick close to the fantasy/mystery genre, and though she wasn't eager to read it due to the cover looking too 'girlie' for her, I made her read it anyways, and she quickly realized that there was the fantasy and adventure in there that she loves to read. She *may* have learned that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover!! She did say that it was bit slow in the beginning, but once Jenny learns more about the mission, it got really good and she couldn't put the book down. She gave it 4 out of 5 stars, and said that she'd recommend it to her friends because it was 'different' and FUNNY!

I think my oldest dd would enjoy this!
Glad that your Hero gave it a try. And so true about not judging a "book by it's cover." My oldest didn't want to watch Legally Blonde the other day and after just a few minutes she was hooked and watched 1 and 2.
I wonder if my daughter would like this or if she's still a bit young to grasp it. She's an avid reader as well and quite advanced and loves all books. Thanks for sharing!
