Phew! Thanks to a fab knitting friend, my knitting #fail has been fixed! I had done an extra row, therefore getting myself all turned around. Unfortunately 6-8 inches had to be pulled out, but it was truly a learning experience! Oddly enough, i actually feel better!
(you can view the knitting #FAIL here, if you missed it)
Now as for the rest of the day...it was a total bust! i had a wee bit of a headache this morning when i awoke, but it continually got worse...i took an advil, and when that didn't work I realized it wasn't a headache I must have ingested msg yesterday...so i went home and started going through what i had eaten yesterday...and it disgusted me because 90% of what i ate had msg or one of it's other forms in it! Even the damn salad!! So i looked through my cupboards and realized how truly bad the situation is...i ended up having a pb sandwich for lunch because i was in tears over the lack of food i could eat. I realized that the only way i could stay 'safe' was to literally not eat packaged/processed foods...which you may be rolling your eyes at me here but come on I cannot spend ALL my frickin time in the kitchen cooking full-out meals. I am starting to realize just how many foods are affecting me, and how there is disgustingly msg(or aka msg) in so soooooo much of the foods i've been eating!! I am literally lost right now and don't know what to do. I wish the specialist/allergist would call!!
What it was in yesterday:
* cream has carageenan in it..so need to switch to milk in my coffee(which is good because i was so worried it was the coffee making my head hurt!)
* my chicken soup from lunch
* processed cheese from my yummy grilled cheese..yup carageenan again.
* my casesar salad dressing, so full of parmesan...yes, parmesan...can't remember the story with it..naturally occuring maybe?
* chicken wings...yeast extract is aka msg and it was in the hot sauce on my wings.
Fun stuff huh? Not so much :(

Are you allergic to msg? I watched a documentary a couple years ago on Netflix that talked a lot about msg. I was appalled at how much food actually has it, or one of its forms like you talked about. You're right, the only way to avoid it is to only eat meals cooked with fresh foods. Maybe you could dedicate a meal day and cook big meals that you can freeze for later? Do you use a crock pot? That might help.
I hope you hear from the allergist soon!
Btw I'm here from the Alexa Drop Hop and I added you on Google+ :)

It could have also been the weather yesterday too - I had a migraine as well :( Hugs!
That is one reason knitting is so wonderful - it is forgiving! Looks great!
I am hoping that your appointment comes through quickly and it doesn't end up being a year away. Good luck finding a balance.
I think yesterday's weather is what put a damper on my day, but I fixed it by making tacos for dinner and a couple margaritas to go with it. :)
I usually get headaches whenever I get really stressed out...:/
By the way, I'm stopping by from the Alexa Drop Hop :)

Glad you got your knitting fixed around. That is going to be gorgeous when it's done! About the MSG... I wonder if there's any sites out there with menu suggestions, or recipe collections? Lists of "safe foods, etc. Something to look for?
Your knitting piece is beautiful! I've always wanted to do a piece using the color changing yarn, and just haven't decided on anything. :)

OK, cheese wise, stop buying processed stuff. If it's coloured (orange) then it's likely a problem! Slicing cheese is not a big deal. You can also get grated romano/parm at the deli counter. It doesn't last as long but it's way better.
You can beat this. There are ways around it and maybe in the end it will be a healthier option anyway :) Hang in there chick!
It's looking good, in spite of the migraine
I hate when working on a project you get all turned around. Better to have to undo a little bit, rather than frog the whole thing though!
oh msg gives me a migraine/ headache every time I have it. I have to be SO careful... and ya... it is in SO many things. Drives me crazy!!
I crochet, never learned how to knit really but one day. Looks great btw, frustrating when your rows don't line up. Sorry about your headache. Most processed foods are full of thiga people really shouldn't be eating but there are ways to eat better and not all of those better meals have to be a big effort. I sure if you searched online you'd find some meals that would work for you. I hope your allergist/nutritionist calls soon though.
Visiting from the stop Drop Alexa Hop.

You'll get this licked! We went through similar learning experiences with food dye and lots of families go through it with dairy. Maybe start with 2 or 3 recipes you know will be safe and make double batches for freezing? That way you aren't making EVERYTHING from scratch every day.
Maybe write out a list of foods that you know you can't eat anymore and then come up with a healthy substitute? Example – if kraft dinner is out, you can still make your own macaroni with homemade white cheese sauce (which is not hard to do, it takes maybe 20 minutes to make a cheese sauce and then you can use some in the mac and some later in the week). Just an idea.
