OHM Thoughts:
We all sat down for a family movie night last night to check this one out. Hero (11yr dd) was VERY eager to watch this one, as this genre is all her! She even had the big movie companion book she got from the library snuggled up in the chair with her! How she was able to watch the movie and yet spew out tidbits of knowledge about the movie at us is beyond me! lol.
I was under the impression before watching that this was a children's movie, but realized that it really isn't..it's more of a children's movie for adults. It's literary, and Orangie(7 yr dd) spent more time asking question and clarifying then i think she spent watching the movie!
But regardless, we very much enjoyed all 2 hours of it. It was very unique, mysterious, almost magical even. The characters were brilliant, and so well played. This movie is very much a welcome addition to our movie collection!
(interesting sidenote: so Johnny Depp is a producer on this movie, and there are a couple scenes where there is a band playing music and instantly we're like 'oh my gosh! very cool cameo by Depp!'...only to find out after watching and google'ing that it seems that it's NOT Depp doing a cameo but a look-alike actor, Emil Lager, or is it? lol )
