QUICK #giveaway: Washable Fashion and the Ultimate Laundry Prizepack! #pgmom

We're pretty easy going over here, and I think everything we own is machine washable. In fact most of our stuff doesn't even get sorted, it just gets tossed in the wash!  And now thanks to Tide Pods my tween and teen pitch in and help with the laundry! It's just so easy! No measuring, no mess, just toss in a pod!

Kimberley Newport-Mimran, the woman behind Canada’s iconic fashion brand, Pink Tartan, knows a thing or two about looking chic. As creative director and president for one of Canada’s most successful women’s wear lines and mom, Kim shares her style secrets for looking great on the go:

Timeless pieces are always in fashion
We’re all guilty of committing fashion crimes, but building a wardrobe founded in timeless pieces will ensure your look is always on point. By choosing pieces you can wear season after season, you’ll also increase the lifespan of your wardrobe. To keep my washable pieces looking their best, I launder with Tide Pods - an item every woman needs to have in her fabric care arsenal.

You don’t have to sacrifice style for functionality
As my collection evolves, I want to ensure I’m making clothing for the modern woman. The Washable Collection was developed for her. Each piece is made from quality washable fabrics that can be easily cared for. I recommend Tide Pods to care for all washable garments as they dissolve quickly and are easy to use.

Modern style is about care
Sometimes being chic is as simple as keeping your clothes looking crisp and clean. Imagine browsing your favourite shop if the clothing looked less than polished? It would alter the way you looked at the garment. I believe we should care for our clothing as you would other items you cherish. Using Tide Pods protects your favourite pieces and helps keep them looking their best.

QUICK #giveaway: Febreze Sleep Serenity #pgmom

Oh how I LOVE Febreze! and the new Sleep Serenity line? It's my absolute favourite! The light dreamy scents are JUST RIGHT for my sensitive scent needs and I find it makes me go "ahhhhhhh" and sets the scent scene for sleeping!

Febreze is introducing the NEW Febreze Sleep Serenity collection in three scents – Moonlit Lavender, Warm Milk & Honey and Quiet Jasmine. The new collection helps transform any bedroom into a peaceful environment ideal for sleeping.

Unwinding during the hours before you climb into bed can make a big difference. Febreze has partnered with the National Sleep Foundation for some recommended tips that will have you counting sheep in no time:

Establish a regular bedtime: Try to go to sleep and wake up at the same time each day, even on the weekends. Trying to catch up on sleep on the weekends can actually have a reverse effect on the body, and make you feel more tired when Monday rolls around.

Create a sleep haven: Create an environment that promotes sleep – one that is quiet, dark, cool and comfortable. Fresh sheets, cooling pillows and black out shades seem to do the trick.

Fill the air: Incorporate soothing fragrances into your bedtime routine to help relax and unwind. Febreze Sleep Serenity collection’s calming scents in Moonlit Lavender, Warm Milk & Honey and Quiet Jasmine help create a soothing bedtime atmosphere.

Exercising: Getting your body moving is one of the best things you can do to help you sleep. Exercise anytime, as long as it doesn’t cut into your shuteye.

Nighttime beverages: Avoid drinking caffeinated drinks such as coffee, tea and soft drinks after noon. Caffeine-free herbal tea or warm milk are great options prior to nestling into your sheets.

Available in a bedside diffuser, bedroom mist, bedroom diffuser, or bedding refresher, the Febreze Sleep Serenity collection eliminates odours and fills the bedroom with long lasting, relaxing scents that don’t overpower the room.

Disney's Planes - Now on DVD and Blu-ray

Finally, Planes is out on DVD! I'm so excited. I loved the Cars movies and I couldn't wait to see this one with the kids. We sat down to watch this one together as a family the other night and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It required a lot of more of my attention then I was expecting from a kids movie. It had a great plot and one that you really had to follow. I love the story of Dusty Crophopper, and how some of the other planes take him under their wing even though it could mean losing the big race. And there is definitely a lesson to be learned about trusting the right people. Such a great family movie.

From the back of the DVD:

The world of Cars takes flight in Planes, Disney's high-flying animated comedy revved up with action and adventure. Join Dusty, a crop duster with sky-high dreams and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take on the world's fastest flyers in the greatest air race ever. Dusty has a huge heart but two big problems....he's not exactly built for speed, plus he's afraid of heights. His courage is put to the ultimate test as this unlikely hero aims higher than he ever imagined. With a little help from his friends, Dusty finds the courage to be more than he was built for and the inspiration to soar. Experience Disney's uplifting story of bravery and friendship on Blu-ray with never-before-seen bonus features.

Planes is available now on Blu-ray and DVD, go get your copy you won't be disappointed.

Buh-Bye Sensitive Teeth! Take the Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief Challenge! #ColgateSensitive

Seriously, having sensitive teeth drives me crazy! I hate cringing when taking bites off my favourite banana ice pop, or trying to eat an ice cream cone faster because it's melting, or when you have a cold and pop a menthol lozenge in your mouth and then try to breathe and the contrast of hot/cold gets you, or another is that I can't drink my favourite beverage, ice water, without using a straw!! That sharp twinge of PAIN is awful! I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it all!

That's why I jumped at the chance to take the Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief Challenge!

Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief toothpaste is formulated to shield and repair sensitive teeth for long-lasting protection (with regular use). Most other sensitivity toothpastes contain potassium nitrate, which primarily numbs the tooth nerve, masking the pain of tooth sensitivity, and will take 2 weeks of use before relief is delivered. Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief toothpaste works by plugging the channels that lead to the sensitive tooth nerves, to block the pain. With regular use, it builds a long-lasting protective barrier that acts like a seal against sensitivity.

Did you know that the common causes of tooth sensitivity is Gum Recession, Acidic Beverages, and Brushing Incorrectly? Learn more here!

Try the Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief Challenge for yourself!
Just fill out this form and they'll send you a free trial-sized 22ml Colgate Sensitive toothpaste and a coupon for $1 off when you purchase Colgate Sensitive!

After you've given it a try,  REVIEW the toothpaste online for a chance to win one (1) NESPRESSO® U Pure Orange coffee machine and one (1) gift basket containing a 1 year supply of Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief products!

Do you suffer from sensitive teeth? Well you don't need to anymore!
Give it a try! I'd love to know what you think!

Top Unlikely Human and Animal Friendships in Film

Turbo, racing onto DVD and Blu-ray November 12

What do a garden snail and a taco truck owner have in common? Well, in most cases the answer would probably be “nothing.” However, in the comedy-adventure Turbo, both characters have a huge dream that they need one another to accomplish.
Turbo is a garden snail with an incredible gift of speed, but no one to believe in him. Until he met Tito, a taco truck owner who was down on his luck with business. In a race against time to pursue their dreams, the two meet in the knick of time to enter in the Indy 500, and change their lives forever. Directed by David Soren, Turbo is “a movie both kids AND adults will adore!” (Deidre Behar, Clevyer News) and features laugh-out-loud performances from an incredible voice cast of today’s biggest stars: Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michael Peña, Snoop Dogg, Maya Rudolf, Michelle Rodriguez and Samuel L. Jackson.

To help you warm up your engines for this hysterical film, we’ve compiled a list of other films that have unlikely animal and human friendships in family film!

Dr. Doolittle
Eddie Murphy stars as the title character in 1998’s Dr. Doolittle, a film about a doctor who realizes he has the unique ability to understand and talk to animals! Dr. Doolittle befriends a dog named Lucky (voiced by Norm Macdonald), and Lucky helps him realize his true calling as someone who was meant to bond with and help animals. With Lucky’s (and many other animals’) help, Dr. Doolittle is able to save a very sick tiger, which aids in bringing his family closer together and helps his medical practice.

Free Willy
In 1993’s Free Willy, 12 year-old Jesse is forced to work at a theme park as penance for vandalizing it. There, he meets and befriends Willy, a captive orca whale with a collapsed dorsal fin. Because Willy responds to Jesse’s commands, he earns a long-term job at the park. Jesse eventually learns that the park’s management has plans to kill Willy in order to collect the $1 million insurance policy on him. In an iconic showdown scene, Jesse guides Willy up and over a rock wall to freedom, where he returns to his family.

Mary Poppins
In the Academy Award-winning 1964 film Mary Poppins, Julie Andrews stars as the title character. This magical nanny takes charge of the Banks children, and along with her dear friend, Bert (Dick Van Dyke), takes the children on a delightful adventure through an animated park, where the group dances and gallivants with various cartoon animals (including penguins, horses, and foxes). After teaching the children and their parents some valuable lessons about family, Mary Poppins leaves the Banks’ home, having changed their lives for the better.

How To Train Your Dragon
2010’s computer-animated film, How to Train Your Dragon, tells the story of Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel), a young Viking teenager, who aspires to be a dragon slayer. After capturing his first dragon, he realizes he doesn’t want to kill it and instead befriends it. Hiccup names the dragon Toothless, and fashions a prosthetic tail for him so that he can fly again. Hiccups tries to show his village the true nature of the dragons – that they are actually not cruel – and, eventually, is able to convince the Vikings and dragons to work together.

Turbo
Dreamers Tito (Michael Pena) and Turbo (Ryan Reynolds) are a perfect friendship match when they cross paths. Even though Turbo can only speak to Tito through written words, Tito helps him accomplish his dream of racing in the Indy 500 and Turbo saves Tito’s taco business!

Getting Tasty With DK Canada and Saving 30%

Have you seen the Tasty DK section over at DK Canada? It's filled with everything from wine encyclopedias to cookbooks to please every type of foodie. And right now everything is 30% off and when you spend $50 shipping is free! I had a chance to review two of the many cookbooks offered in the section and here's what I thought:

Vegetables Please

Vegetables Please
This cookbook is right up my alley; I try to cook at least three meatless meals a week so when Vegetables Please: The more vegetables, less meat cookbook showed up for review I nearly squealed in delight! Filled with delicious and satisfying recipes where vegetables are the main focus of the meal. With options to add meat or seafood if you want.

My personal favourite section of the book is at the section titled Pantry Essentials right at the beginning of the book. It describes what all the vegetables are and how they can best be used to enhance each dish. And then a handy section describing various herbs and oils and how they can be used as well. There were some listed that I have always wondered about and never knew where or how to use them!

Each recipe is laid out with the ingredients down the side and step by step instructions to the right. They give a great little description of the dish with ideas for swapping harder to find ingredients. And of course at the bottom they give a meat suggestion and how to incorporate it into the recipe.

I have one complaint about this particular cookbook and that is there aren't enough pictures of the recipes. I love to see what the finished product looks like to make sure I made the dish right. While I may not have the presentation skills that a chef has, I like to at least know that I have cooked the meal mostly right ;)

Cooking Season by Season

Cooking Season by SeasonThis is another cookbook that really speaks to me. I love the idea of cooking based on the season but I've never really looked into what's "in season" until recently. It's hard to keep up ;). This cookbook is packed with 1000 recipes using ingredients at their peak.

Filled with snippets of information about the seasonal foods for each season and delicious mouth watering recipes, with pictures for most, I should be able to start cooking seasonally. It's broken down into Spring, Early Summer, High Summer, Fall, Early Winter and Late Winter, with a full index int he back for quick reference.

This one has more pictures but still not a picture for every recipe. Cookbook writers take note, pictures are important! :)

Keep an eye on my blog though, as @tabithapye will be posting a bunch of my reviews/giveaways for me. She's so awesome! :)

Home of OHM is 'ON HOLD' until further notice

Just wanted to take a quick minute and just let you all know that Home of OHM will be 'on hold' until further notice. My life has suddenly been turned upside down, and frankly I just can't do this.

I hope to be back soon, or at least have some guest posters in soon to help with my posts, giveaways, etc.
